Conference Photographer Edinburgh, Glasgow and Scotland

Conference Photography

Though most of my Edinburgh conference photography work is in indeed in Edinburgh, I work in Glasgow and all over Scotland. With extensive experience in photographing national and international conferences and meetings I have gained valuable understanding of the needs of conference organisors.

Conference organisors will be responsible for the efficient running of events that can have over 1,000 delegates. Every aspect has to run smoothly and for my part I have to ensure that I fit into that running equally efficiently.

From understanding the initial brief right through to the end result of high quality images on a disc or eGallery, I need to be in the right place at the right time AND get the right photographs.

A full understanding of a client’s requirements and a reassurance in covering the event, as well as establishing a good rapport, are all a prerequisite.

Conference Photography Style

I will arrive early to establish locations to seek out the best shots and to set up off-camera flash for the main plenary sessions.

In my early years I shot using no or little on camera flash but even with one of the best professional low light cameras I found that images were lacking in style, venue’s spot lighting cast a ‘yellow’ light which needed so much post production. Plus spot lights from above create dark eye sockets on the speakers – not flattering!

‘Getting the shots’ at your conference for example with minimal impact on speakers and the audience is important. Social events are also covered with due respect to guests who are there to network and enjoy themselves.

Pleased to say that several conference organisors re-book for the following year or biannually when back in Scotland. My 3rd UKSG conference in 2015 and just booked for 2018. Yikes!

Hi Simon. Thanks, the disc arrived safe and sound this morning. I think the images are terrific and we’ll be able to use a lot of them for future publicity for the ASMs and also for other events etc. I hope you enjoyed the experience – the end results are very satisfactory indeed
