Conference photography Confederation of Passenger Transport Scotland

Back for 2nd year at Crieff Hydro for the Confederation of Passenger Transport Scotland annual conference.

Two day event with some fascinating speakers including Dr Antonia Terzi designer of the Superbus – not a bus, not a streeeeetch limo, not a formula one car but perhaps something taken from them all. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7wEaG2u-BY) Designed to run on ordinary roads to pick passengers up(16 each with own entry doors), then onto current fast roads then onto specifically designed roads so the vehicles can travel at speeds up to 250kph at just 250mm off the ground.

Snow, bright blue skies and Edinburgh Castle make a special wedding day

The snow came down (again and again in December) and Carol and Stewart nearly didn’t get to Edinburgh.

A 4.5 hour train journey from Lonodn was 8 hours in the end – along with a unexpected train change half way. But they arrived in the end the day before and I met them for a chat to go through their plans for the day which was  just the two of them and two close frineds from Edinburgh.

Stuart is a Warrant Officer with the RAF and qualified to get married at ‘ the army rate’  at Edinburgh Castle.

Wow what a fantastic day it turned out to be. Clear blue skies on a crip winter’s day and Edinburgh Castle looked stunning.  And I’d arranged with ‘William Wallace’ aka Braveheart to greet them after the wedding!

Edinburgh Convention Bureau publishes 2010-11 Guide

I’m well pleased that ECB (Edinburgh Convention Bureau) chose one of my pictures for the front cover of their new Blueprint – the essential guide to hotel and conference venues as well as conference support services in Edinburgh. The guide is distributed to conference buyers and organisers around the world.

This and other Edinburgh images are available on my gallery.

Scotland Against Cancer Conference 2010

2nd year covering this event for Cancer Research Scotland and cross party MSPs, clinicians, medical specialists and patient representives to help direct the Scottish Government in all fields of cancer treatment and aftercare. This years conference was at the Stirling Management Centre

Nicola Sturgeon, MSP, again gave the opening talk and took questions.

I think for future conferences I am going to ask the sound guys to be more unobstrusive with their mics! Lighting not great either but bounced the flash of a near white ceiling so all OK.

World Potato Congress announced for Edinburgh 2012

With assistance from the Edinburgh Convention Bureau, the Potato Council (GB) and World Potato Congress Inc have signed the deal to host the 2012 international conference for the ‘spud’.

Booked to cover PR photography for the ‘signing’ at the Royal Highland Show, I wanted to add the Edinburgh Brand to the background and collected the pop-ups to add an identity for Edinburgh as host city.

Euronoise 2009 – Edinburgh Intenational Conference Centre

Looking  forward to another interesting conference that I have recently been commissioned to cover.

Being held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre 26-28 October 2009, Euronoise is the European conference on noise control, co-ordinated by the EAA Technical Committee Noise and organised by a national acoustical society on behalf of the European Acoustics Association (EAA).

Hotel and Food Photography – Edinburgh and Scotland

Despite the distance I was delighted to get the commission at the end of August. A Sunday evening – well until 1 am – and a full day and then back to Edinburgh by midnight the next day with 5 mins for lunch it was ‘harem scarem’ to get all the photos done in that time. These blasted low energy lamps, as photographers know give off green light, and I prefer the warm welcoming colours of traditional bulbs. So a few burnt fingers (and bust bulbs) changing them all the time as I went from room to room.

Amyway a good shoot and two fabulous privately owned hotels.
