Pictures for training module for LearnPro for NHS Scotland

Shot in the ward training wing at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh it felt like shooting in an episode of Casualty. Thanks to Rachel Lees and LeanrPro for the opportunity to do the shoot for you. And thanks for your feedback.

“I just wanted to say a big thank you for all the pics, they are just what we needed and the turn around was so quick.” Rachel Lees LearnPro.

Food photography Edinburgh – Krua Thai Cookery School in Edinburgh

Food shoot for Krua Thai Cookery School in Edinburgh on behalf of an international food importer in London. The brief was for clear simple shots with wide focus range and simple staging to go with recipe cards.

The images were shot at a large window with the light diffused through a white opaque cloth, mostly with light being bounced back from white card and/or suppllemented by led white light torch and/or silver foil. However by 3pm light faded fast and was then lit by daylight flourescent bulb in a reflector.

Edinburgh Convention Bureau publishes 2010-11 Guide

I’m well pleased that ECB (Edinburgh Convention Bureau) chose one of my pictures for the front cover of their new Blueprint – the essential guide to hotel and conference venues as well as conference support services in Edinburgh. The guide is distributed to conference buyers and organisers around the world.

This and other Edinburgh images are available on my gallery.

Early rise brings its rewards…

The wife thinks I’m crackers creeping out of the house at just after 4am as the early morning summer light is showing above the Forth.

Though I have done this later in the year as last year, in June you really need to be out and  about even earlier to get skies at the right low light level to balance with the streets still in relative darkness.

The use of a tripod and firing off 5 shots at different speeds gives a range of images to be  later combined into one – otherwise known as HDR (High Dynamic Range) using Photomatix Pro. Then into Lightroom and Photoshop to remove unwanted street lights, signs and chewing gum on pavements!!

Not many people around other than the newspaper vans – and the seagulls having a ball with rubbish bags left out over night by careless business owners.
